DNS Leak

A DNS leak is a network misconfiguration in which domain name lookups are resolved outside your configured proxy or encrypted connection, typically through the operating system's default resolver or your internet service provider (ISP), instead of through the intended network path. When exploring what is a DNS leak, imagine shipping cargo through a dedicated freight terminal but sending the destination lookup through an unrelated local post office. The cargo follows the planned route, but the address lookup takes a separate path, producing inconsistent routing, mismatched location signals, and added latency.
